Dr. Volker Kitz LL.M. (New York University)

Volker Kitz is a Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law, Munich, and a lecturer the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He worked as a research fellow in the Department for Private Law, Trade and Corporate Law, Labor Law, and European Private Law of the University of Cologne where he earned a Ph.D. in 2004, as well as at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. In 2002, he earned an LL.M. in Trade Law / Intellectual Property from New York University as a Hauser Global Scholar. Volker Kitz has authored several book chapters and numerous articles on issues of copyright and media law and has served as an expert witness in hearings before the German Bundestag and various state parliaments and as a Deputy Examiner at the Federal Authority for Media Harmful to Young Persons. He currently serves as a national expert in the UNCITRAL Working Group on Security Interests in IP. His professional work experience includes the German Media Authority; RTL Television; Linklaters; as well as the German Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM) where Volker Kitz headed the Telecommunications and Media Policy Division from 2004 to 2007. Volker Kitz studied cinema and television, psychology, and law in Cologne.
